NAWDEX measurement campaign on the North Atlantic

19.09.2016 – 16.10.2016

The North Atlantic Waveguide and Downstream Impact Experiment (NAWDEX) takes place between Sep. 19th and Oct. 16th 2016 in Iceland and over the North Atlantic. A complete remote sensing package is flown by three research aircraft from Germany and France to provide new insights into the atmospheric dynamics over the North Atlantic and into predictability of weather over Europe. The Meteorological Institute contributes to the organisation of the campaign, will analyze the data generated, and add its cloud spectrometer specMACS to the onboard instrumentation.

Fourteen researchers from "Waves to Weather" (W2W) take part in the campaign, 5 of which work at the Meteorological Institute.
